Lightbox view enabled for all images

We’re happy to announce a big update to the image-viewing experience on Blogger, with a new lightbox view enabled now for everyone! Now all clicked images (regardless of where they are hosted) are displayed in a shiny new overlay, allowing you to browse through all images contained in a post in a larger size which fits your screen.

This feature is automatically enabled for all blogs, which means you can see the lightbox view in action right now. Try clicking the images below to see what we’re talking about.

Once you open an image in the lightbox view, you’ll notice that all the other images from the same post appear as thumbnails along the bottom. You can easily browse through these images by clicking the arrow keys on the left or right side of the lightbox.

If you’ve custom-coded your image HTML so that images function as hyperlinks, then the lightbox view will not display and your original image hyperlink will work as expected.
